Char Cady Social Emotional Learning (SEL) for Special Education at Central Middle School

Who May Apply:

  • Central Middle School Special Education Department Teachers

  • Central Middle School Special Education Students

Selection Process:  The White Bear Lake Area Educational Foundation’s Program Committee will review the Char Cady Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Endowment for Special Education at Central Middle School applications and make recommendations to the White Bear Lake Area Educational Foundation (WBLAEF) Board of Directors for final approval.

Award Range:  Up to $750 in funds will be awarded each school year (September 1 - August 31).  Applications will be reviewed on a continual basis throughout the year until the maximum of $750 per year has been awarded.  Projects will be funded for twelve months.  After 12 months, any unexpended funds will revert back to the White Bear Lake Area Educational Foundation.

Invoices/receipts for grant items must be sent to the WBLAEF office. Once received, payment will be made by the WBLAEF.

Eligible Projects: All projects must enhance Social Emotional Learning (SEL) opportunities for Central Middle School special education students in a manner that champions and encourages their everyday successes.

Eligible projects may include, but are not limited to:

  • Curriculum that promotes social-emotional learning (SEL) competencies necessary for academic and life success such as: resilience, self-management, and responsible decision-making skills.

  • Field trips, Artist-In-Residence, and other activities that support SEL.

  • Furniture and equipment that enhance and promote SEL.

  • Individual student grants to provide experiences to increase SEL competencies.

Evaluation:  The Char Cady Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Endowment for Special Education at Central Middle School recipients agree to provide the WBLAEF Board of Directors with a written evaluation or personal presentation within two months of completion of the project.
